Simple and Easy

I am now aware that most of the articles published in ISJ were written in a very simple way, using simple sentences and words. Easy readings. Small findings but significant for theory development. Can I write the way the writers wrote their ideas? Will try my best!

Today, I will be interviewing a key manager in OB10. This will be a second interview. Hopefully this meeting will be fruitful.

Suddenly, I feel like going to a place, away from home, away from work.. erm.. a holiday in an island? I'll make sure that the article for ISJ ready by next week and will reward myself with holiday at Pulau Kapas!

ISJ paper

I've finished with the SAP case. That is my first attempt to use drama in the case. Not bad. Haha. Wait till the others read and comments.

Next is to finish up my paper for ISJ. I've delayed that for almost two months now and must really need to get it finish and submit.

Fatin,my second daughter is quite obsessed with maths. She reminded me several times to buy her a book on math but I forgot the title. Got to ask her sometimes today.

Creative Writing

I need to be more creative in my writing especially when writing a teaching case. The more dramatic the case is , the better it will be. My only problem is that I forgot how to write creatively. I remembered that I always got an A for my essay in secondary school. Teachers love my essay, my story.. they like my wordings and the dream that I put in my writing. I need to be what I was when I was at school. Easy to say but hard to do. Ermm I'm not giving up.

I am searching for a book on creative writing or a book with scripts.. hehe will the books below help?

A new car

I desperately want a new car. I'm now driving mercedes avantgarde E230. I envy Volvo sport, but my husband doesnt like it. I want Honda CRV. He doesnt like that type of car either. So, I left with Honda Accord and Toyota Camry as last choices. Erm, why should I bother? After all both of them are not the type of car that I love to drive. My husband likes those car. Not me. Why cant I have the car that I want! Waaa I'm stuck with this crazy decision again.

Amazon and me

I finally decided to associate this blog with Amazon. As a first step, I'll review my first book that is advertised in Amazon.

Offshore Accounting Outsourcing: The Case of India

The book is written based on our research in Offshore Accounting Outsourcing in 2005/2006. At that time I was still in Manchester UK. The research was sponsored my ICAEW, a professional accounting body in UK. It was a great research where I encountered issues and challenges in meeting different people at different places such as Lisbon, Portugal; London, UK; Bangalore and Puney in India. The book is good for those planning to send their outsourcing work to India.

Fareez 2nd Birthday

Today is Fareez second birthday. He just recovered from a fever. We didnt arrange for any birthday party but went out for lunch at Kenny Rogers. Our favourite place celebrating birthday. Fareez loves the foods there and was so noisy.. hehe. I tried to order Baskin Robin birthday ice cream cake but its going to take at least 3 days.. haha too long to wait. Nobody want to wait that long! So finally, we just had our ice cream. Guess what is our favorite flavor? Chocolate Mint! Nyummy.. Fareez had his own cup of ice cream and for the very first time, he didnt want to share! Huuu I have to order another one for myself!

Now, he is sleeping next to me.. looks so tired and restless. Nite Fareez and happy birthday love...muaah! We will always love you!

Reunion

I can say that I have overcome the worries of meeting the old friends - schoolmates, collegemates etc.. Its not just me who grow in size, they are too. Just enjoy the meetings and share updates. Tonite is the 2nd reunioun that I attended this year. Hehe..

It is a reward for finishing and submitting my Jurnal Pengurusan article and the e-government article to London conference. Heh.. finally I have decided where to go. It is important to present the paper in a well known conference and attended by well known professors in order to get good input.

So, now I am trying to refresh my mind before start doing the SAP case study for MIA and an article on sense-reading for Information System Journal.

Nite!

Public Library

I sent my kids to public library after school today. Let them have different environment for studying or revising. Fatin took it very easy but Fauzan seems not happy. I remembered when I was at School last 30 years. Most of my time was spent in public library. Almost every weekend. Library was the best place for me to study because I didnt have the condusive study environment at home. Noisy and crowded. A family of eleven stayed in a house with two bedroom. I am sure you can imagine the situation, right?

I just finished preparing invoices for my husband's business. What a relief. Next, continued with the JP and eG articles. Yeh!

First step

In addition to my normal workload, I have to prepare invoices for my husband's catering business. At least, I've to spend 36 hours a month for the invoices. Thats what I did last night. Stayed up until 2am. But I could only finish a bunch of them. Need to continue producing invoices tonite. Well, I accept that as a challenge, keep my mind away from all the papers and books for a day or two. Hee..

I'm almost settle with the article for Jurnal Pengurusan and looking forward to start another new papers on:
1. interpretive case study research (for IFIP in Finland)
2. offshore accounting outsourcing in Malaysia (for any international conference)

and new books on:
1. pembangunan sistem dan aplikasi sistem maklumat perakaunan ( a book on system development written in Malay)
2. sistem maklumat perakaunan dan kawalan (again, another book on system and control to be written in Malay)
3. Writing a Teaching Case

err.. am I too ambitious? Well, I believe in first step. Without the first step, I' cannot reach the end... I mean a complete paper. Hehe..

Employable graduates?

Good input from the interview with members of Outsourcing Malaysia this morning. Lots of issues being raised up. One important issue is employability of our graduates. Although there are thousands of graduates every year, they are not employable! I am not surprised. The most talented graduates will not apply for a job in outsourcing but rather go to a better job prospect. Well, pls do not blame the universities for not producing quality graduates. We done our part by providing basic knowledge and skills which should be polished by the industry who need them! They are half baked and to make sure they can be eaten up, the industry should provide further training so that they can fit well in the particular firms!

Sorry if I am a bit serious here but I'm tired.. tired of driving, tired of finalising the grades and tired of thinking list of works need to finish up by end of this week:

1. repair the paper for Jurnal Pengurusan
2. send out egovernment paper
3. repair Petronas SAP case
4. repair Tegar case
5. finalising book on communnicating knowledge across border

PIKOM & Outsourcing Malaysia

Finally I'm done with the marking and grading. Students had done fairly well in their exam. Not so good but ok with the effort they putting in.

I am going to meet someone from PIKOM and Outsourcing Malaysia at their office in Damansara tomorrow. Somehow, its not just me who benefit from the meeting but their side too. In research/ field work negotiation, there should be some win win situation. I'll get the research part and they will get the practical part.

Choices and Decision

Life is full of choices and we have to make the right decision at the right time.

1. This morning, I had to make a big decision. A decision to buy a right printer. Hehe..its not easy to decide, you know. It took me hours of talking to the sales representative at different shop counters. Finally, I bought HP laser printer. Just because of its easy installations and may be because of its brand!

2. Another decision that I have to make is where to send my egovernment paper. I want to send my egovernment paper to a conference but I have to choose either London or Vietnam. Two great conferences in November. The last criteria to be taken into consideration is place. I've never been to Vietnam, and I would like to go there. I've been to London many times before, and love to go there again for shoppings etc. Which one should I choose? Waaa .. its so difficult to make a right decision, kan? A place that I've never been or a place where I want to be?

New Blackberry

I received a new Blackberry Curve with Celcom phone line. The phone and line are free. Thank you UKM. I can now make calls to students/companies or any related parties without worrying about phone bills. Heh! Enjoy!

Stress

Take a deep breath and start planning. Nothing can be done when you are panic. Suddenly, I feel so stress. Stress that I create myself. Due dates that I set myself. Those can be adjusted. I have to tell myself silently not to stress. Just take your own sweet time and settle the work one by one. Even if you stretch over the due date, let it be. The chances may come again. Hopefully. #sigh...

Students Project

I started my day today with marking students project paper. What a headache! I knew very well that the students were doing the project last minute. Despite several drafts being commented face-to-face, some of them just dont know how to do it right. Either they just ignore my comment or they dont have anymore time to improve the report.

The project paper is on evaluating e-commerce securities of selected companies website. I have given steps on how to do the analysis and reporting. A very detail instructions plus lengthy discussion in lecture. But, what did I get at the end? A useless report!

Marking

I had an interview session with Accenture this morning. Not bad. The contact person is very friendly and informative. No wonder they stay as one of the biggest accounting outsourcing provider so far. He talked too much that I dont have chances to ask. Heee.. one of the challenges that he highlighted is the expertises that are difficult to get. Expertise here means graduates with accounting skills and good communication ability, written and oral.

I am so excited to write about the offshore accounting outsourcing in Malaysia - but have to be patient until my assistant finish transcribing the interviews.

I'm done with the e-government paper early this morning, sent to Dr Hasmiah for peer review and now waiting for her reply.

Next is marking time.. the most boring part of my job. :D

Here and There

I am trying to get this e-government paper done by today or no later than tuesday next week. I cannot hold this paper any longer. It makes me crazy.. hehe no lah! There is a pile of exam paper need to be marked before the 10th of this month. I have to start looking at it soonest possible.

Oh ya, my paper on Risiko hubungan dan Kepercayaan dalam Penyumberan-luar is on its way to be published in Jurnal Pengurusan. I need to respond to minor revision and get it done within 21 days.. phewwwww..

Another thing that I'm looking forward is an interview with Accenture tomorrow. I've been waiting too long for tomorrow meeting and I hope its worth waiting for. :D
