Aim BIG

Its now mid June. Time to re-think and re-strategize. What have I done so far? Half of the year has gone and I have half year more to go. Trying to meet my own target, my own AIM. I worked with several draft articles at the same time, sent them out. Half of them were turned down. May be, I aimed TOO BIG. Sent them to high impact journal but the quality of the article have not yet reach that level. Hehe.. well.. now is the time to review those paper, and send again to lower rank. Actually, I can work harder, improve the paper theoretically and resubmit. But of course that demand hugeeeeeee amount of time and at this moment, I just want to get them publish. Of course, there are other papers that I still work on for high impact journal and I will not give up. :))

Recovering & Case Studies

Two more days to end my medical leave... wow.. a month MC! Really make me feel restless. Cant wait to start work again. Though, I dont really feel that good esp the traumatic experiences still there. Somehow life goes on, right?  Anyway, I should also congratulate myself for finishing my case study write up while on medical leave. Completed two cases! :))

Writing case study esp for teaching is not that stressful. Its just a story line that you need to put on paper. The real story told by the interviewees. The best way to start writing case study is to have a teaching note draft. Always start with teaching objectives and suggested questions in mind. Then only you can start writing the whole case. Believe me, the second principle 7 habit of highly effective people really works! It says.. always start with an end (in mind), you will finish work earlier.

Survive

 Had an accident last Friday. Very bad one. I'm now hospitalized. Yet, nothing too worry about. Alhamdulillah.

Recently just accepted admin job - webmaster of faculty. Of course, in addition to the core tasks - research, write and publish, now I have to manage faculty website - update info and manage info. Look like not a big task at all - hopefully!

The only publication for 2011 that I can confirm so far is in the TGPPP and Jurnal Pengurusan; a book and two chapter in books. That are not enough, definitely! I have sent more articles out to Journals - SIJ, TPIJ, JEBPS, QRJ and IJAIM. Waiting for reviewers' comments. Hope for the best. More under final stage of writing up.

I received Action Research Grant 2011-2013, submited ERGS proposal and will submit CIMA proposal.

Case Critique Workshop MIA-MOHE

Presented two cases at the workshop on 5-6 th March 2011 at Cyberlodge, Cyberjaya. Good input from IPTA and IPTS participants/ representatives. Discussing new issues and how those can be integrated to the case.

SAP case - too much issues in one case - need to be separated into two or three short cases
TEGA case - too simple - need to integrate governance and accountability issues.

Both cases will be published in April 2011 as book chapters in Integrated Case Studies Book Vol 2 for Integrated Case Study Course.

Accounting Outsourcing Practice in Malaysia

Vision, Operative Image and Specification

My mind is full with this terms, trying to improve the article sent to MISQ. Reading, re-reading, think and re-think - imagine. Trying to integrate data and theory - not easy but possible. Its all about practising and imagining what the output will be. Requirements of the journal have to be met. Discussion and analysis have to be improved. Searching and applying the knowledge into the case require deep thinking. Need to be away to continue thinking.. heee

Consultation and Training Services

Just nice, while thinking of extra income, an offer come. One of telecommunication company in middle east is asking for consultation services on Outsourcing and Managed Services. Plan to be held on mid April/May. Alhamdulillah.

Remembered Nonaka (1994) ideas of SECI. A knowledge is created through socialisation, which is later being externalised, combined and finally in internalised. So, I will internalise (train) the knowledge I have on outsourcing and shared service to others who need them.

If this works, I will definitely offer my consultation on outsourcing services to others.

So now, I have to start develop the training. module.

Research Proposal/s

There are so many research grants available and open for application. Somehow, I lost confidence to submit any research proposal this year. Although my research funds is almost nil, I feel reluctant to apply. The thing is, research and field studies are taking too much of my time. I have tons of data piled up in my database that need to be analysed and written. After all, only publications in ISI and SCOPUS journals that matter, right?

Despite that, I'm preparing for ERGS application. :)

Maidless

Another week without maid. Busy with kids and housework. Still, I have to finalize few things this week. Not so much though. Just to make sure the momentum of writing doesnt stop.

MISQ replied. Same with JAIS, resubmit with major revision. Haa.. will keep that aside for a while. Need to have full strength to rewrite that paper.

Holidays n Ideas

Been away for holidays since thursday night and back home just 2 hours ago. Very productive and enjoyable. Manage to revise and resubmit an article to JKM, and at the same time finalize my book and send out to publisher. Hee.. love the holiday so much!

This time, the place for holidays was at one of the rural part in Malaysia, a far away beach that not so many people know, no internet, no phone, no tv. Haha... so now u know, why I can finish all my work within just a few days. I should do that more often, right?

The children enjoy the nature as well.. they play with the birds and monkeys.. haha.believe it or not? ... its true...those animals were around when we sat on the bench. I played with my netbook (finishing my write up) and they played with birds and monkeys.. be nice to them, they will be nicer to u.. :))

I'm thinking of buying this Kindle thingy.. must be very helpful in my work.

Publish publish publish

I've few more things to settle before go for holiday:

Bad news - JAIS replied last two days... heee.. the chief editor was my PhD external examiner. Appreciate his comment that I need to add more theoretical discussion. Well, its not the end of the world. I just need to improve the article and resubmit. Not a big task... anyway. Alternatively, I can just send that article to lower tier journal, easy work but I prefer to work on the theory part, improve the paper and resubmit to JAIS.

Good news - the book publisher willing to publish my book without any amendment or correction. Wow!

What is so special about this date and time?  Nothing special but hope for the best. I'm reviewing an article for MIS Quarterly and hope to submit one today. Looking for more info on the case company. Nothing in the internet. I've to call the director or at least the project manager. Will try to call him at 11.11am.. hehe

A good start for 2011

Alhamdullah, article on e-procurement implementation has been officially accepted for publication in Journal of Transformational Government: People, Process and Policy and will be published end of this year. A good start for 2011. More will come, insyaallah.

I'm preparing for new research grant, on business sustainability and e-government privacy & security this year. Hope for the best. I believe that a good paper starts with a good research.
