Holidays n Ideas

Been away for holidays since thursday night and back home just 2 hours ago. Very productive and enjoyable. Manage to revise and resubmit an article to JKM, and at the same time finalize my book and send out to publisher. Hee.. love the holiday so much!

This time, the place for holidays was at one of the rural part in Malaysia, a far away beach that not so many people know, no internet, no phone, no tv. Haha... so now u know, why I can finish all my work within just a few days. I should do that more often, right?

The children enjoy the nature as well.. they play with the birds and monkeys.. haha.believe it or not? ... its true...those animals were around when we sat on the bench. I played with my netbook (finishing my write up) and they played with birds and monkeys.. be nice to them, they will be nicer to u.. :))

I'm thinking of buying this Kindle thingy.. must be very helpful in my work.

Publish publish publish

I've few more things to settle before go for holiday:

2. Marking exams and greding
3. COPPA

Last few weeks, I've sent a book on Knowledge Management to a publisher and several articles to journals:

1. Sensemaking and Imagination - MISQ
2. Overcoming Knowledge Gap - JAIS
3. E-government evaluation for decision making and organizational learning - IJITDM
4. Egovernment evaluation and organizational learning - IJDS
5. Accounting Outsourcing services - SIJ

Bad news - JAIS replied last two days... heee.. the chief editor was my PhD external examiner. Appreciate his comment that I need to add more theoretical discussion. Well, its not the end of the world. I just need to improve the article and resubmit. Not a big task... anyway. Alternatively, I can just send that article to lower tier journal, easy work but I prefer to work on the theory part, improve the paper and resubmit to JAIS.

Good news - the book publisher willing to publish my book without any amendment or correction. Wow!

What is so special about this date and time?  Nothing special but hope for the best. I'm reviewing an article for MIS Quarterly and hope to submit one today. Looking for more info on the case company. Nothing in the internet. I've to call the director or at least the project manager. Will try to call him at 11.11am.. hehe

A good start for 2011

Alhamdullah, article on e-procurement implementation has been officially accepted for publication in Journal of Transformational Government: People, Process and Policy and will be published end of this year. A good start for 2011. More will come, insyaallah.

I'm preparing for new research grant, on business sustainability and e-government privacy & security this year. Hope for the best. I believe that a good paper starts with a good research. 

Toothache!

Just past through a very painful week. Makan sup ekor, tersalah gigit dan buat gigiku bernanah. Siksanya Allah juga yg tahu. Tak banyak kerja dpt disiapkan.
 Just sent a revised version of e-government paper to TGPP and received a very quick response. A little bit more to make it publishable. I love the way the chief editor deal with my paper and definitely will send more fresh papers to that journal.


Finished respond to students project draft this morning. So incomplete. Hope they can improve for final version. More work to get done but definitely not this weekend. Erghhh.. this toothache still disturbing my concentration!

Motivation

What else can motivate people nowadays? Nothing else but money. Although its true, I dont really take that as 100%  correct.  I dont blame for rewards and initiatives to make academicians think and write, hence produce high impact articles. That is very motivated. But somehow, those money goes to those who already in writing mood.. not those who start to write. I, myself, took sometime to get into the tune of writing journal articles. It is not easy. Not easy to write interesting articles and at the same time academically proven. Not easy to get publish into impact journal. Somehow, we just need to keep going, trying hard to get into the stream - follow the flows and get into the troubles.

Year End Resolution

15 days more to end this year. What have I accomplished so far? Alhamdullillah. I met the target. Publications of one book, 2 book chapters and 3 journal articles as well as numbers of proceedings are more than enough. One paper awarded for best paper in one of the conference attended. Plus 2 articles ready for submission to top ranked journal and 2 articles confirmed publication in 2011.

More to work on next year:

1. A book on offshore outsourcing
2. Articles for journals - 2 e-government, 2 offshore accounting outsourcing and 1  sustainability
3. Cases for MIA Journal - 2 cases
4. Case for GSB - 2 cases

and new application for research grant too.
